| Monitoring |
Monitoring is a major component of CrossTalk since it is designed to support continuous operations. At the core of CrossTalk are independent MicroProcesses that start automatically as CrossTalk starts and
immediately begins to manage and execute their components.
CrossTalk monitors the bundle of services and elements of all processes. Services consist of a heartbeat. Devices are monitored by timers via polling. An alert is raised after notification of a component failure or non-responding components.
All messages are reported to the CrossTalk Monitor. CrossTalk itself can be monitored by a central SAP alert monitor such as SAP CCMS*, IBM Tivoli*, or Hewlett-Packard OpenView*, using HTTP or SNMP. |

| Edgeware (Control Center) |
The CrossTalk Control Center is the functional backbone of the noFilis CrossTalk Technology. Most of the companies are currently centralizing their IT landscape in order to gain scale effects and to be able to run and maintain the IT systems with a smaller team of experts – instead of having decentralized IT groups.
The noFilis answer to this trend is the CrossTalk Control Center – the centralized tool for:
- Configuration
- Monitoring
- Diagnostics
of decentralized stationary and mobile AutoID read points throughout a company network or even beyond this border covering business partners´ infrastructures. Therefore the CrossTalk Technology enables companies to perform smooth and successful AutoID rollout activities, without having the need for decentralized IT and AutoID / RFID specialists. Only few CrossTalk – trained employees in the IT team are required to run, monitor and maintain a company´s global AutoID network (please see our reference list for sample installations). With the help of templates, import and export functionalities even large networks can be managed very user-friendly and efficiently. All settings of the decentralized AutoID read point components, like process parameters and detailed hardware settings of the AutoID readers are captured and archived in a so-called “productive setup” or “read point image“. The replacement of a read point component e.g. in case of a maintenance or repair operation can easily be done by a non-AutoID / RFID-expert from the maintenance division, because all necessary configuration data including tuning settings are provided automatically from the remote CrossTalk Control Center.
The main goal of ERP systems and IT in general is to capture and create a very realistic mapping of real world´s business processes and events. AutoID Technologies can help collecting these real world inputs in a very timely and accurate manner. Leveraging the ERP goal to an AutoID Edgeware means the possibility to design a read point and the relevant read point processes as detailed and realistic as possible. The read point design in CrossTalk is done by pure configuration with the help of an innovative toolbox and different configuration components:

Having a centralized configuration, monitoring and integration platform in place is certainly not enough. Real life´s practise has clearly shown the need for a decentralized software component, which handles the local management and synchronization of read points and takes care of local data buffering in case of network connectivity issues or downtimes of the centralized IT landscape. Therefore noFilis provides a so-called CrossTalk Agent, which requires minimal system resources and usually runs directly on AutoID / RFID readers, mobile devices, PLC controls and forklift terminals. The unique and consistent runtime environment for all kind of devices dramatically reduces complexity of a distributed environment. At different architecture levels CrossTalk provides buffering-, filtering- and consolidation services. These services offer e.g. the detection of incorrect or duplicate data to minimize data transfer volumes.
